Vintage early 1960s poss late 1950s green white abstract floral swirl silk wiggle dress summer sleeveless fitted sheath Ascot garden party
This is a beautiful dress we think in a slub silk, lightweight and gorgeous but fully lined. The print is a white floral abstract on a sage green background.
It is by Peter Barron, the renowned London dressmaker based just off Oxford Circus in London that was the label of the Ravden family. They were at the height in the 1960s though this could be earlier it's original owner a top fashion designer's own collection, thinks it was bought very early 1960s. It has been VERY well looked after.
Only fault is the zip pull is missing but it's easy to pull up with a little help and I don't want to replace.
OMG what a killer silhouette this dress gives! If you are a UK size 6-8 it's going to fit you like a glove. If a larger 8 you may need some foundation garments which of course they would
have worn at the time. It's a special occasion dress I am not selling this for some well off yummy mummy to knock about in doc martens or trainers in! It's for a glorious spring or wedding, a day at the races, Goodwood Revival, a cream tea somewhere divinely elegant, a beautiful garden party, a promenade walk at Deauville or Cannes, or a walk with a special date or your partner beneath the cherry blossoms in the park for some wonderful photos together. Treat with respect and get someone to zip you up, and unzip you.
This dress is PURE ELEGANCE.
The front buttons are decorative not real, and are covered in the white floral swirl fabric. Then there is a gorgeous bow in front. Was a bit loose in front for me so I wore with my padded bullet bra then it was a little tight. I've a small bust and am a size 6-8 UK.
It is delicate & pristine so I am not even going to sell this to someone who isn't going to really appreciate how beautiful it is, and look after it as well as it has been; no fading marks or wear.
I don't really want to sell it at all tbh, but I can't keep everything. It will hurt to sell, as I adore it, but as long as you get how special it is too I shall.
Aww, take good care of my baby
Now don't you ever make her cry
Just let your love surround her
Paint a rainbow all around her
Don't let her see a cloudy sky
Once upon a time that little girl was mine
sang Bobby Vee in 1961, and it's how I feel to let her go. You must love her.
I am 90% sure it is a slub silk; but it could be a very high quality mixed fibre rayon silky look. I don't want to cut a piece off to test so it is what it is.
