Yes it's the Stephanie Seymour North Beach leather dress by Michael Hoban dating from 1988!
Very special! The label famed for its power look leather dresses with ultimate rock chick edge in the 1980s, has had a big renaissance in recent years as pieces have been collected by many top fashionistas. This was largely down to Ece Sükan former editor of Turkish Vogue, regarded as one of the most stylish women in the world, who sang their praises and wore the dresses. Ever since, the 1980s ones have become very collectible. And this one of the most desired as it was worn by supermodel Stephanie Seymour in an ad campaign.
It has a high neck, zip all the way up the front, lovely structured sculpted leather with that amazing back belt and batwing sleeves, and comes to mid thigh on me at 5ft 5 ins. VERY flattering to the figure obviously.
This one I would say is a UK size 8 , and is labelled small. So may be ok for a tall size UK 6 too if a bit curvy. A UK size 10 it may also fit as it is roomy in the shoulders and bust, and can have waist adjusted with that back belt, which has a very punk or dominatrix aesthetic about it. It epitomizes the 1980s glamour and rock chic edge, and is definite show stealer I know I have stolen a few wearing it, but it is still in pretty much mint condition. I will CRY to let her go, but I am almost 60 years old and only 5ft 5 inches tall and so have to wear 5 inch heels if going out and not the greatest to dance in at my age, and I like to dance at gigs etc. But if you are tall, or comfortable in high heels, and have read this far, you KNOW it's for you. You want a killer dress well this is it. Guaranteed to knock red blooded men, and women, dead! Hard to imagine a sexier dress with so much power; and yet nobody will DARE try and touch you in this as you are clearly in command!
Stephanie also modelled amazing power look leather garments for Alaïa of course, who did the dresses for the Addicted to Love video in the 1980s, and as I have a bevy of 5 beautiful 1980s dresses I thought I'd use the theme for them all! Well yes but I think would be Robert Palmer the one grovelling to you in this dress! You know, if you know, Michael Hoban's North beach Leather, and are already addicted, and if you don't, well hello Pretty Pretty welcome to the appreciation club....and this above all, is the North beach leather dress to have.... as I say will make me cry to see her go, but I need to know you will love her too then I am happy. The only other one I have seen of this dress for sale was in London vintage store 7 years ago and was over £1k and was pretty pricy at the time so this is a good price don't hesitate. Imagine wearing this to a fashion show, a rock gig, or any occasion you need more than a bit of edge want command of the room as you will def get it wearing this dress.
