Vintage 1980s 90s dark brown Emmanuelle Khanh Faux fur chubby bolero fitted to waist jacket coat batwing sleeve sexy stylish fab cut Paris
This is a stunning jacket with epic cut unto the waist, in a soft dark brown faux fur by Emmanuelle Khanh. That was her trademark of showing off the waist and this does so perfectly. "Does my bum look big in this ?" doesn't really apply to so called 'chubby' jackets as obviously the bulk makes your bottom half look slimmer. People often do not understand this. This eliminates pear shaped! Both Essex & Chelsea girls get it with the chubby fur jackets they wear...they ARE sexy there is no doubt about it.
BUT, what makes this one special as opposed to those, is Emmanuelle Khanh has cut it into the waist with a slightly balloon back, and shaped slightly in the front. So even MORE sex appeal! Even retains shape undone. So cuddly and sensual this will make your partner drool and imbue you with formidable power loo.
It is suitable for a size UK 6 to 12 . I am a size 8-10 UK atm to give you an idea.
Because Emmanuelle Khanh did such timeless pieces they are always difficult to date precisely. The lapels reminiscent of some of the stuff she did in the 1970s, but back then the labels tended to have her face on and this doesn't. So we estimate it is likely somewhere between 1985 and 1993 when these high cut but waisted and batwing jackets were particularly in style. Essentially though it's a style that harks back to the sassy glamour of the 1930s so will look good with long hobble skirts and wide leg pants in particular, though I chose to model it with jeans and boots to show it can be dressed up or down, and is versatile for day or evening wear.
The colour is very lovely not a traditional brown but a very slight dark taupe brown. It is deep and soft fur wise not very short sheared, but still sleek, so sensual to the touch.
Like much Paris fashion, they took it seriously through the twentieth century and Emmanuelle Khanh was awarded the Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres (Knight of Arts and Letters) in 1986. So I mused on the artistic heritage of France in my photo backgrounds from their lovely Art Nouevau underground entrances to the glass pyramid at the Louvre, and the steps of Montmarte the art district. The latter I always think about the shoot by Jean-Marie Périer, who Francoise credited with teaching her about style and poise. Soon after that Francoise did a famous Vogue shoot with David Bailey for Emmanuelle Khanh , so I chose her song 'Je ne Suis Pas Pour Personne' for my Insta video as my 'Spirit of the Age & Garment' track first released 1966 but re-released by her with a more rock feel in 1993. Timeless song for a timeless garment, and yet both so, so cool!
So if you like chubby short bolero style fur jackets, and appreciate just how fabulously this is cut and the batwing etc, then this is for you. You already KNOW this is sexy or you wouldn't still be reading. And so rare; never seen one before. I suspect not many done and would likely have been a pretty penny. While Emmanuelle Khanh was a pret a porter label she was renowned fro bringing class and elegance, innovation and fine workmanship to pret. This jacket is so lovely and special and I really shouldn't be selling it. Hurry before I change my mind. I can't keep them all, and this will def be pulled if I come into money heh!
The brand became dormant from the mid 1990s and was revived in 2012 now in highly sought after eye=wear; something she was always associated with: her trademark outsize glasses herself.
