Vintage 1970s does 1930s 1940s black faux fur jacket embossed texture brocade like shoulder pads like Biba Glam Rock
This is a really super faux fur jacket from the 1970s in excellent condition, with an embossed finish and slight zig zag effect in the light. Very reminiscent of Biba & Barbara Hulanicki though no label in it. Very unusual, typical early to mid 1970s style it's gorgeous!
It is very slightly flared in that period style but not smock/swing.
Would be suitable for a size UK 6- to a small 10 . Ideal for a size UK 8.
The bust is 36 inches, waist 40 inches, and hips 43 inches.
The shoulders obviously are exaggerated but 19 inches across. Sleeves are 23 inches from the shoulder to cuff, and 16 inches from underarm .
Looks very British Ken Church street boutique early to mid 1970s, but the only label is Made in the Dominican Republic . Not that it should surprise anyone the Dominican Republic is renowned for its skilled textiles workers and for eg Oscar de la Renta hails from there.
Rest assured it is a gorgeous jacket style wise epitomizes that time with its 1970s does 1930s shape and shoulders. The raised texture is lovely between a velvet and a faux fur but thick. two faux 'buttons' also a period feature adorn the slightly stand up collar, but they are actually soft applique decorative. Very glam rock....and so my 'Spirit of the Age & garment' song is by T Rex and Marc Bolan...so will you 'Get it on' ?
"Well you're dirty and sweet
Clad in black, don't look back and I love you
You're dirty and sweet, oh yeah..."
