Vintage 1970s 1960s spectacular pale beige leather & huge thick sheepskin fur trim coat beige Penny Lane fit flare Mod Hippy Dolly Glam Rock
This is a truly breathtaking coat, that we are a little confused about on dating. No labels inside so no clues there. Some elements of 1960s style, especially the cut at the front which was originally for newer shorter skirts to guard against the cold, though was first popularized by Ana Karina in Alphaville 1965. Some of the old boys in the leather & sheepskin biz call it 'scooter cut' as Mod girls when minis came in their normal suede and leather coats weren't warm enough. Lilli Ann also did similar around the same time.
BUT, there are some elements such as the tie belt, that suggest late 1960s or 1970s. In fact, we are leaning toward mid 1970s.
I would say it's suitable for a UK size 6 to 8 , or maybe just about a size 10. I am a size 8 UK so will give you an idea. It has a 36 inch bust. 34 inch waist, 38 inch hips . 17 inches shoulders.
The beige is a pale one that country people in the UK actually call 'lemon' if you are familiar with that. It isn't at all yellow, it is just what they call that pale beige.
Whatever its date, late 60s or 1970s or even later, it is a beautiful coat. Perfect for the spirit of either decade. You will take peoples breath away it's one of those that guys walk into lamp posts when they see. The leather is quite stuff but the collar is meant to stand up and does so well, so it needs to be. A little rippling of of the leather but nothing serious. And the sheepskin is divine! So much of it, thick soft and sensual. I mean some people call coats of late 60s early 70s like this Penny Lane coats , but that is an anachronism they were not called that at the time it comes from a modern movie. And, this is FAR FAR superior anyway as a dramatic stylish coat....will make most 'penny lane' coats look like something the cat dragged in. But it does appear to be of an age we do not think it a 90s reboot one.
Singer Mariska Veres (Venus) wore some fab coats with sheepskin trims at the time late 60s & 1970s , and straddled the Mod , Dolly bird , Bohemian, glam rock and hippy looks effortlessly: always look at her style to avoid looking like a scruff. So I have chosen one of Shocking Blue's songs as my Spirit of the Age and Garment' song : 'Ball of Confusion', as we are confused on the date! That was 1974.
"Come on baby, get it done
Coming closer, turn me on
Turn me onIt's all just a ball of confusion
Think it out and take it for a ride
So take my advice and don't you lose it"
And indeed don't you lose it, its a VERY glamorous sexy coat and sure to excite your lover. ...so take my advice and don't you lose it !!!!!
