Vintage 1960s? 1980s? unknown but lovely High cut black mouton sheepskin fur trim cuffs collar wool jacket silver studded purple navy
I've no clue about the date of this jacket as some elements look 1960s, others perhaps 1980s, yet others such as the small metal studs very contemporary. Except it is certainly not the latter, as the interior has a very 1960s looking dry clean only label, yet no other was instructions (or makers label) so again points to 60s. As does the black mouton fur trim. And the shape does look a little 60s cut but the shoulders are quite strong, which then suggests 1980s.
I would say it is suitable for a size UK 8 or UK 10.
But what about those studs? They look contemporary....but they certainly haven't been added by an amateur so neat. But it could be a jacket that has had a later alteration done by a skilled professional.
Or alternatively, I know Lillie Rubin did such studs in the later 1980s early 1990s, only designer I know of that did; and was still using mouton rather than faux fur on some garments. So it is a possibility it could be a designer such as that. Otherwise one would think that stud look is very modern someone like Alexander McQueen tbh. Except we know it's not because of that aged interior and the high fading of the lining.
So is it 1980s? Well it certainly looks quite 'Rock Chick' to me...looks fab with a leather pencil skirt quite Alaia looking then. And would with black jeans and thigh high boots too, so yeah I am getting that aesthetic somewhat. But it is also a jacket than could be worn to a smart event, or even to work if you work in creative industries for eg.
The cut is like a hussar with that high waist and fur trim, and the tailoring at the back so it flares just a soupcon at the bottom where the fur is, is very lovely. So one thing for sure this jacket was no mass produced item. But as I say the lining is very badly faded so bear that in mind.
Whenever it is from and whoever it was by, one thing for sure is it is a lovely quality jacket that will make you stand out from the crowd , perhaps even a unique piece! I'd be asking a lot more for it if it wasn't for that faded lining but I am not inclined to change it as that would make dating it even harder in future.
