Vintage 1950s Arthur Kohler pale pearly pink jacket blouse bengaline silk Dior New Look style made UK pearl & brass shoulder buttons fitted shape with pearl & brass buttons olding shouder pleats.
Wow this is a stunning piece its by Arthur Kohler his own label so assuming predate 1961 and Tricoville days, and this fabric doesn't seem to be as synthetic though may be. I suggest however it is a bengaline silk ie a rayon based and very shiny cord look typical of that fabric late 19th to mid 20th century. It has a high sheen so very difficult to photograph so looks faded in the pics but it isn't that is just the light reflecting. It is a uniform very pale buff pink, and reminded me of a custom fifties cadillac I saw once with a pearlized faded pale pink finish
So.... "my love is bigger than a cadillac...."
"I'm gonna tell you how it's gonna be
You're gonna give your love to me
I want to love you night and day
You know my "loving not fade away" sang Buddy Holly and the Crickets in 1957, and we think this more likely to be mid 1950s than the Dior New Look style it imitates. But difficult to say for sure.
Looks fab over a full skirt and has the drop shoulders though also this fascinating pleat detail into the shoulder held and held by the most exquisite pearl bend buttons edged with brass. The fastening in front is by hidden very small poppers.
Lovely flattering shape, and the front cut just lovely with a full skirt dress, and even open retains its shape unusual in a lightweight garment so lovely tailoring , as you'd expect from the Arthur Kohler name associated later with Tricoville , who also had designers such as Ted Ladipus later 1960s
Measurements 30" waist 34" bust
The jacket is unlined so very lightweight and perfect for summer.
It is suitable for a UK size 6 or 8.
Just stunning and a perfect piece for any lover of the fifties from the Dior New Look on .
